Bug Description

Binary package hint: gimp

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start GIMP.
2. Create a new image.
3. Select Alignment Tool.
4. Click on image.
5. Close image.
6. Select 'Align right edge of target' from tool options.

The problem seems to be that Alignment Tool options are activated (unghosted) at step 4, but don't get disabled (ghosted) again at step 5.

Sorry, forgot to mention that this happens on an up-to-date Lucid, but I was also able to reproduce it in Maverick. The backtrace was from Lucid.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.

I now tried it in Natty, and while at it, in Oneiric as well. In both, GIMP still does exhibit the problem.

Could you tell me if you are still affected (sorry I just want to get to your current versions from Ubuntu and GIMP to reproduce this bug). Thank you very much!

Hi Thomas, sure. Yes, the bug is still reproducible in Precise (gimp 2.6.12-1ubuntu1.2), which is what I'm using on my main desktop. But the good news is I can't reproduce it in VMs running Raring or Saucy (both of which currently have gimp 2.8.4-1ubuntu1), so it looks like it's been fixed in the 2.8.4 series at the very latest.
