fails to build kernel package from a git if uncommited modifications

Binary package hint: kernel-package

i am building a kernel from upstream git. i have an uncommitted modification in the kernel source.
fakeroot make-kpkg --jobs 4 --append-to-version=sam2 --initrd kernel_image

fails with:

dpkg-gencontrol -DArchitecture=amd64 -isp \

the patch in

fixes this error and allows me to build

maybe that patch isn't enough. i am now using 12.036 from PPA: https://launchpad.net/~brian-rogers/+archive/ppa which seems to be working ok.

I can confirm both the existence of this bug as well as the fact that 12.036 seems to solve the issue, which is good news as that versions seems to be what will be shipped with Natty.
