Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

If I have tomboy open with some notes but I'm in a different app, when I click on the tomboy icon in the launcher to switch to the top note, nothing happens.

If I do have a note as the active window already, clicking on the tomboy icon in the launcher correctly does the "Expose" feature where it shows me all the note windows I have open. And clicking on a different note in Expose mode is able to raise it. So unity does know about all the windows and *can* raise tomboy windows.

It should be able to raise one when trying to switch between apps.

I found that if the search window is open, the launcher button works. If I only have notes windows open however, they are not displayed.

Can you check if the same happens to you?

No, in no case could I get the launcher button to work:
1) Search window open, no notes open
2) Search window open and notes open
3) No search window, but with notes open

The launcher button works only if a window of the application has focus, but it does not give focus to the application.

I have seen this problem with gtk-recordmydesktop and gimp both not have a maximized window

@David,

yes, from the apps I use this happens with Tomboy. To reproduce, follow:

1- open tomboy application, the search window opens and displays your notes. leave it open.
2- open any other application (say a terminal) and give focus to the term window.
3- click the tomboy launcher button. nothing happens, but the search window doesn't come up.
4- Switch to tomboy with Alt-Tab and click the tomboy launcher button again
5- Note that the window is displayed as a miniature. if there are notes open, all windows are displayed in the wall, as expected

That this is a regression since Maverick beta.

This appears fixed for me in natty now. I'm not going to close, since I only tested tomboy and it seems you all might be targeting a 10.10 SRU.

this is not an issue in Natty Narwal and I dont think it will be fixed in ubuntu-10.10 since the development have taken a big turn :)
