Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

1.
Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release: 10.10

Linux xxxxxxxx-desktop 2.6.35-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Sun Sep 19 20:32:27 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

2.
compiz:
  Installed: 1:0.8.6-0ubuntu9
  Candidate: 1:0.8.6-0ubuntu9
  Version table:
 *** 1:0.8.6-0ubuntu9 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3. Pressing the Printscreen key or using the Ubuntu->Accessories->Take Screenshot utility should capture the current screen / save to file.

4. When Compiz effects are enabled, the output from pressing the Printscreen key or using the Ubuntu->Accessories->Take Screenshot utility is an image of either (a) the desktop background with the arrow cursor and no other windows or menu bars, or (b) a black screen with the arrow cursor on it and no other windows or menu bars. Screen capture functions work normally when compiz effects are disabled.

I could not replicate this bug. I followed the instructions on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager/CompizFusion. I Tried the following: (1) Keyboard shortcut Alt-F2. (2) Enter the command 'compiz --replace'. (3) Wait. The window manager updated without problem. (4) '/usr/bin/unity-window-decorator' from within a terminal; successfully.
(5) Prt Scr key. Saved the file (png). (6) Viewed the png.

Using ccsm, "Fading Windows" and "Window Decoration" compiz effects are enabled.

More details of your setup are required.

Running Ubuntu 11.10 alpha 3, installed by upgrading from 11.04.
