quadrapassel is causing my machine to show unusual memory-usage statistics (according to "top"and "system monitor"):

when it crashes, quadrapassel has a memory usage of about 36mb according to top. top and system monitor show the total memory used by the system at about 100% of 1GB physical memory available (plus a small amount of swap used).

Closing quadrapassel causes the system to have a lot of free memory: it goes down to only 34% of the 1GB of memory used, with the rest free.
