Not sure is it the same bug, but i can't connect to gmail account too, it says "network error".

steps:
1. create account
2. enter account data
3. apply
4. Network Error :(

gmail fixed.

my problem was - empty "Server" field on account settings by default.
manually fixed.

This bug was fixed in the package empathy 2.32.0-0ubuntu2
