Plymouth unable to change splash screen (on Maverick)

Release of Ubuntu I'm using : Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat beta

Packages :
plymouth, plymouth-theme-ubuntu-logo, plymouth-label, plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text, plymouth-theme-solar and libplymouth2 are all version 0.8.2-2ubuntu5.

I followed this tutorial : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/plymouth#changer_de_theme. It works on Lucid, but on Maverick, plymouth do not use solar theme, but the default theme instead.

Plymouth problems also for me:
I installed Kubuntu-desktop next to my regular Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat, then the plymouth changed to the Kubuntu plymouth, no problem so far. Now when I change it back it keeps booting up (and shutting down) with the Kubuntu-splashes.
Also, I have Ubuntu Maverick in Virtualbox, and installed Macbuntu on it. It should have changed the Ubuntu plymouth to an Apple-like plymouth. It is still Ubuntu.

Which graphical driver do you have? I just turned off FGLRX from ATI/AMD, and I got the 32 bit Ubuntu splash screen, while when it was turned on it showed the 16 bit Kubuntu splash screen what should be a Ubuntu splash screen. Is it a driver issue?

I used xserver-xorg-r128 driver. But I changed of computer recently so I won't be able to check the packages upgrades.
I found on the french community forum a solution to override the problem. I'm going to find out the topic twice, to copy the code or the command.

It appears to be a grub error, instead of a plymouth bug.
