Bug Description

I still get crashes of indicator-sound while playing last.fm in rhythmbox. The sound indicator does not completely crash, but the song info + album cover disappears from the sound indicator after the crash. I tried apport but it couldn't record a backtrace.

My indicator applet is 0.4.6 in latest maverick.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting this. Are you sure this is a crash ? It could just be that rhythmbox has come to the end of the remote last fm playlist and as a result has sent empty metadata about the non-existent track cued. As a result the indicator will then collapse and hide the metadata menuitem until it receives new and intelligible track data.

Well, on the one hand there was a crash of indicator-sound just seconds before with an apport request. Also, rhythmbox was still playing a song while the album cover disappeared.

I should have added that rhythmbox kept playing all along and the album cover was back when it loaded the next song in last.fm.

I just had another crash of this type, the apport comes up but I cannot report: "crashed on an assertion failure, but the message could not be retrieved."

This bug is similar to bug 627505, but not sure if it's a dup.

Hi Bernard,

I don't think it is a duplication. If so it would crash everytime. I tried this morning to reproduce this but could not. Does it still happen for you ?

I think it last happened 2 days ago and I update every day. I can keep monitoring this problem and tell you how often it happens. This bug is not so serious in the sense that the indicator applet completely crashes and disappears from the panel. Just that the album cover disappears.

And btw, the crash happens when last.fm plays a new item of the playlist. It might also be related to reloading the next 5 items of the playlist. It doesn't happen all the time though, I might have to play last.fm for an hour or so before it happens. Don't really understand what triggers it.

Hi Bernard,

I cannot reproduce this. I have been listening to last fm through rb for the entire afternoon. I subscribe so was permitted to listen to neighbour's stations, which is always nice.
still an issue for you ?

I haven't seen this anymore for about a week. I will set this to fixed and will reopen if I see it again.
