Bug Description

Dapper-flight AMD-64 install on Acer Ferrari 4005 laptop defaults to external monitor only.

Installation apparently defaults to external monitor. Attempts to "clone" external monitor work but at lowest screen resolution only.

FORMER WORDING OF BUG...
installation does not recognize proper screen resolution on an Acer Ferrarri wide screen.
menu.lst entry should be
vga=791 (or possibly 792)

black also for Live CD and newest CD install announced 16 Jan 2006.

Further investigation reveals that the setup may default to the external monitor rather than the notebook monitor.
Suggestion to clone external screen worked but at lowest resolution only.

Marking as a duplicate of https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-driver-ati/+bug/22985.

To get the xserver working, you can use:
        Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,CRT"
        Option "MetaModes" "680x480,1680x1050"

As per the comments on the other bug, the card is broken, and doesn't properly report it's capabilities when queried.
