Bug Description

Binary package hint: davfs2

Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release: 10.10

ii davfs2 1.4.6-1 mount a WebDAV resource as a regular file system
ii gvfs 1.6.3-0ubuntu2 userspace virtual filesystem - server
ii gvfs-backends 1.6.3-0ubuntu2 userspace virtual filesystem - backends
ii gvfs-bin 1.6.3-0ubuntu2 userspace virtual filesystem - binaries
ii gvfs-fuse 1.6.3-0ubuntu2 userspace virtual filesystem - fuse server
ii libgvfscommon0 1.6.3-0ubuntu2 userspace virtual filesystem - library

I don't know if it is related to davfs2 or gvfs...

expected to happen:
When trying to mount a https WebDav share using gnome (userland), which the server certificate doesn't present a matching CN, We should be asked for accepting or not the "wrong" certificate like in command line mode.

happened instead:
I get this message "/sbin/mount.davfs: the server certificate does not match the server name".

I'd argue this works as designed and should not be changed. What you should do is get the hoster to fix their mistake not expect Ubuntu to allow their users to sneak around security measures.

Changed in davfs2 (Ubuntu):
