I have a Compaq Mini CQ10-100 new netbook and I have used Ubuntu 10.04.
I recently upgraded to ubuntu 10.10 and the battery applet always says that is estimating battery time

I have the same problem on a Compaq Presario CQ60-307EA. On lucid the battery indicator displayed "Laptop Battery (% of battery) now it simply displays "Laptop Battery (estimating...)".

Also want to add, that after the battery has discharged for a while and the AC adapter is plugged in again, the battery icon jumps to fully charged which is of course inaccurate.
