Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

After a "resource not found" error, Banshee plays the next song at the maximum
volume, overriding the setting. The volume bar stays unchanged.

To restore the volume level, one just has to move the volume bar and it goes
back to normal.

To reproduce, set the volume to a mid level, import a couple of songs, then delete one, and try to play it. Banshee will then display the "Resource not found" error message. Then play the second song. It will play all right, but with the volume at the maximum level.

Hi Juan,

Which version of Ubuntu are you using? Also which version of Banshee is it?

I can re-create the problem exactly as you described and I'm running Edgy and Banshee 0.11.0-0ubuntu1.

I notice also that it's been reported (I think by yourself) upstream at bugzilla http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360195

Thanks,

Alex

Can anyone comment on how to reproduce the "Resource not found" message? I'm trying to test this bug, but I don't know how to reproduce it. Or can someone test on a newer version?

To reproduce it just add a song to Banshee's database, then delete/rename using nautilus (or whatever file manager of your choice) and then try to play the song. Banshee will not find it and it will report the "Resource not found" error.

I don't get that error for a missing file in 0.13.2; maybe this behavior has changed?

It could be the case, I'll try when I get home with the latest version available on the Gutsy repos to see if I can still reproduce the error, but nevertheless, Banshee should report some kind of message saying that it can't read the source file.

It does now, from what I can tell. Puts a red X next to the missing file and
grays it out.
