Open image with url

It will be great to be able to open images by url. E.g fire pinta open dialog, enter image url (https://launchpadlibrarian.net/48517308/pinta.png) and open image for editing.

Sometimes there is a need just to examine image, check colors, dimensions etc. Now I have to download image to hard drive, open and edit it and then delete edit. With this feature we will be able to throw out steps 1 and 3

Hello, I have no previous experience working on Pinta, but I'm giving a shot at this because why not.

Is that reasonable/worth finishing? Suggestions?

Dragging and dropping of image urls is currently being worked on (https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/pull/80), so I'd suggest waiting until that is completed so that we don't end up with duplicate code for opening urls.

Well isn't that a strange coincident, your commits are 3 days old and i swear I didn't see them!

We should probably more consistently use "Assigned to" setting in top of bug tracker to assign user that is working on some bug.

P.S. Tilde, maybe you should try working on one of the easy-to-fix bugs. In bug tracker Advance search type in easy-to-fix tag and click on Search button or click following link to do the same: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pinta/+bugs?field.tag=easy-to-fix

There is an active pull request (https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/pull/80), but I don't know if that person has a Launchpad account to assign the bug to.

Thanks grofaty, i'll make sure to check it out.
Cameron, I'm monitoring the PR and if needed I'll work on that after it is closed or a reasonable amount of time passes (the PR and this bug are almost the same but not quite), if you want you can assign this bug to me and I'll make sure to close it when done (of course mentioning the original work by "aivel" on github).

The pull request has been merged, so the remaining work would be to set up a menu item / dialog for opening from a URL
