Bug Description

My computer is connected to a network with no direct internet connection. To get online i have to establish a vpn tunnel to a cisco concentrator.
If I now start my PC normally with the life cd and try to install kubuntu the installer hangs at "scanning for mirrors" (it stops at 2%, and never continues).
The workaround is to pull the lan plug before booting from the life cd.
Like this the installer finds out that there is no internet avaliable and continues.
Appearently the installer does not notice that i have no (direct) internet.

This problem aso exists in Kubuntu 6.06 final (stops at 1% scanning for mirrors, never continues)
