Bug Description

The Canon PIXMA MP450 printer/scanner is not included in the Gutenprint driver database, but the Canon PIXMA MP170 (MP150, actually?) driver works perfectly with it (in my experience).
Bug tested to occur on 10.04 (Lucid), 10.10 (Maverick) and 11.04 (Natty).

The Canon printers are supported by the Gutenprint driver. Please report the problem to Gutenprint upstream:

http://gutenprint.sf.net/

They will add your printer to the list of supported models and so later Ubuntu releases will explicitly support your printer.

Fixed upstream, still present in Natty (cups-driver-gutenprint 5.2.6-1ubuntu1).

Thank you for reporting this bug. This bug was fixed in Gutenprint 5.2.7 but as 5.2.7 hasn't been released quite yet, this will not make it into 11.04 but it will be in 11.10.
