Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

Seen on 3 different machines (all Intel graphics) since upgrading to Maverick Beta and still with latest updates, none having had any problem with Lucid previously:

- When logging out of KDE, we're back to a text console with scrambled messages. There's no graphic KDM screen available anywhere although "ps ax" seems to show that some kdm is still running.

- "sudo restart kdm" from a text console is needed to restore a working KDM.

Disabling desktop effect in KDE system settings seems to work around this issue.
