Bug Description

Since revision 82, usplash_clear, usplash_put_part, and usplash_tet generate wrong colors. This breaks all current themes, they look hideous.

Forgot to add: x86 hardware, so usplash_svga is used.

Matthew, can you take a look if this is a proper bug and how we can fix or work around it? It's quite important to have artwork display the right way on release.

As of r98, only usplash_clear and usplash_txt are broken ;)

I don't notice any hideousness with the current usplash and artwork; can someone explain more clearly what the problem is?

Matt: if you boot without quiet, you get dark blue text on a black background. It's painful to read.

This is fixed in bzr - I'm trying to rectify the nvidia failings before uploading, but if this is considered urgent I can do it in the morning.

  [ Matthew Garrett ]

  * Update the x86emu code - should fix all sorts of amd64 bugs
  * Update the resolution matching code
  * Fix colour conversion in usplash_svga_put_part. Malone: #64171

  [ Tollef Fog Heen ]
  * Add blatant lie to usplash-testcard-theme.c telling that a 640x400
    theme is a 16:9 theme.
  * Use bogl backend on amd64. Malone: #56587
  * Don't pass X and Y resolution to usplash on AMD64, since we're using
    bogl and vga16fb there now.

This won't be fixed in Edgy now; please look at it early in Feisty.

Thanks for your bug report. Last ubuntu release on which this bug was tested is Feisty, can you confirm if you can still reproduce this bug with Gutsy or latest Hardy alpha release?
