Hey Omer, this looks like there is a complete mess up in the picking mode :/ I'm unable to reproduce it at all on my laptop, with 0.2.42 or trunk.

If it still happens with a fully updated system, could you confirm

1. You are not running with CLUTTER_VBLANK=none
2. What graphics card and drivers your runing
3. Your running a Unity session from GDM, and not the test mode of `unity -p`

Thanks, I'll mark as incomplete pending the answers to these questions.

No

intel on my netbook and nvidia on the PC

Running the UNE session

To reproduce open applications place so that there is a scrollbar. scroll the icons down a bit so that a few are behind the category list and search bar. hover there.

it seems this problem is more intense than I had imagined as it leads to opening an app accidently while one intends to click on a category :(

Thanks again for reporting this bug. As we're going to move over to the new Unity view's implementation of places in the coming weeks, which uses a completely different input model which I am confident won't suffer from these issues, I'm going to mark this as Won't Fix for the Unity 0.2 series.
