Bug Description

Human Resources/Employees in the form view, it's impossible to insert a manager for an employee

The field is not saved when you fill-in it.

It's a related field (department_id -> manager_id) so it likely shouldn't be writeable. The field may not be populating correctly because of bug #642541.

IMHO this is not a bug but it is how the system works.
You should define a department first and then whatever value you set, will be applied.
