Bug Description

Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose

1) lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release: 10.10

2) apt-cache policy virtualbox-ose
virtualbox-ose:
  Installed: 3.2.8-dfsg-2ubuntu1
  Candidate: 3.2.8-dfsg-2ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 3.2.8-dfsg-2ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/universe i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What I expected to happen is when I install a Maverick guest from http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ into a Maverick host, both fully updated, then attempt to run guest additions in the guest at the Terminal as sudo sh the x86 version of linux guest additions it would install successfully.

4) Instead after immediately pressing enter, it glitched the guest (please see screenshot.png).

What command did you run in the terminal?

If you want to install the guest additions just run:
sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose-guest-x11

Thank you for responding so quickly to my inquiry. First, I do want to mention I first created this VM in the newest Oracle .deb available from them at http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/3.2.8/virtualbox-3.2_3.2.8-64453~Ubuntu~lucid_i386.deb As well, I installed that versions guest additions, uninstalled Oracle VBox and installed OSE version from Ubuntu repos, opened this VM in OSE, clicked Devices -> Install Guest Additions, then I opened a terminal and typed 'cd /media/VBOXADDITIONS 3.2.8 64453' then typed 'sh VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run' when it glitched then I bugged this.

In OSE when I did a fresh install and fully updated Maverick and ran your suggestion at a terminal 'sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose-guest-x11' it worked perfectly no glitch.

In summation, I unnecessarily complicated this issue by mixing and matching different VBox'es and based on my experience with VirtualBox I should have known better then this. But, someone else could do something similar and crash into the same wall.
