Bug Description
Ubuntu Dapper
915resolution 0.5-1ubuntu1
915resolution correctly patches the BIOS of my Intel 915G graphics chipset, yet while it is installed, hibernation (as found in the Gnome logout menu) fails to work. The system seems to correctly shut down, but when it powers back up, it fails to correctly resume and the regular Ubuntu login screen is displayed and my session is lost. Also, when this happens, the resolution is wack too, suggesting that 915resolution failed to patch the BIOS as well.
In stark contract, 915resolution's sister package, 855resolution, works perfectly, even though it was designed for 800-series chipsets. It successfully patches the BIOS and hibernate works correctly while it is installed.

I seem to have the same problem. I am using Acer Travelmate 3000 (3004WTMi) and Ubuntu Dapper Flight CD3 with latest updates. Using 915resolution (from tar.gz), a script and xorg.conf as described on http:// www.iki. fi/karvinen/ acer_travelmate _3004wtmi_ with_linux_ notes.html
I finally got the screen working on 1280x800. But now System:Log Out:Suspend does not work, instead the session is lost and after some trying, Ubuntu boots to normal gdm login screen.
Hibernate worked on the same hardware on 5.10 Breezy Badger, but on Breezy, the display did not work on 1280x800. So it seems that 915resolution breaks hibernation.
