Rendering issues when printing PDF files

Binary package hint: evince

When printing certain blocks of text in Evince the characters will be spread across the page rather than consecutively. See attached screenshot for an example. This problem can also be seen in the print-preview mode prior to physically printing the page.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open http://www.poynton.com/PDFs/coloureq.pdf or http://www.inference.phy.cam.ac.uk/mackay/itprnn/ps/5.16.pdf in Evince.
2. The page should be displayed fine in Evince's main window.
3. Open the Print dialogue and then click Print Preview.
4. Observe the "alphabet soup" effect with certain blocks of text on each page..
5. (optional) Print the page and see the same effect.

This does not affect PDFs printed from Okular or EPDFView. This also does not appear to affect Evince in 10.04.
