Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

The Apple Magic Trackpad is currently grabbed by the X synaptics input module. To enable multitouch support in Maverick, it needs to be grabbed by the X evdev input module. An extra file (/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/60-magictrackpad.conf) with an appropriate InputSection would correct this issue. The Magic Trackpad can be singled out so that the change does not affect any other trackpads.

This bug is dependent on bug 628214. The change for this bug may be uploaded before the xorg-server bug is fixed, but it will not have any effect.

The patch can be viewed at:

I have verified that with an updated evdev package but current xserver-xorg package there are no regressions nor changes. With an update xserver-xorg package with a fix for bug 628214 the Magic Trackpad is correctly grabbed by evdev instead of synaptics.

This is a bug fix, so nothing to do for the release team here; unsubscribing.
