Bug Description

Using Gnome on Maverick when pressing the numlock key on my keyboard (Logitech G15) the left button on my mouse does not work any more, right click still works though. I've also noticed that when no buttons were pressed on my mouse pressing the numlock key seemed to get it stuck on the left mouse button down event on my desktop (as I had a dragging selection).

This problem persists even after logging out, I've got to kill my Xorg twice before it works again, also when logging back into gnome it appears again if the gconf entry for enabling numlock is set to true.

This problem is reproducible for me and makes the numlock key useless.

Further testing with a different keyboard and mouse proved that the problem is caused by the mouse, namely a Sharkoon Fireglider.

xev reports a mouse button 1 press as soon as numlock is pressed without a release event, other mouse buttons work fine.

I'm currently using a Logitech M215 mouse which doesn't have the same issue.

Also to me.

I have a microsoft curve keyboard and a sharkoon fireglider mouse. If I unplug the mouse and plug another mouse it is ok, but when I plug the sharkoon I cannot use the left click.

Thanks in advance

It seems that is recognized as mouse and keyboard ¿?

I did not know this was linked to the numlock button and toyed around with various options for serveral days.

Everything works fine under Windows 7.

It would be very welcome if this could be fixed.

I'm experiencing the same problem with a Microsoft keyboard and a Fireglider mouse. It is the most annoying bug ever :)

I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 RC. I only upgraded the other day and noticed this bug immediately so I know it's a regression between the xorg versions of 10.04 and 10.10. It's reported downstream here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/637062

Basically, when pressing numlock with this mouse connected, a mouse button 1 event is sent but not released. So basically if numlock is enabled the mouse acts like you are holding down the first button.

Same problem here. When I activate numlock, I cannot left click anymore.

My mouse is Sharkoon Fireglider and my keyboard is a generic Logitech keyboard.

If anyone knows how, can they update the upstream bug report with the result of evtest when pressing numlock? Thanks.

Marked as duplicate of 636311. Through the comments there are already links to two updated debs that fix the issue (an update to 2.3 and one to 2.5 of xserver-xorg-input-evdev)
