Bug Description

This is a minor problem but maybe fixed in the future.

I installed kubuntu-10.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso with unetbootin on an USB-Stick and on an USB-Harddisk.
This works fine so far - you can use the Live-CD with nearly the same speed as booting from an builtin HD. :-)

But there are 2 problems:

1. When booting from USB there ist no Start-Menu to select speech and options.

2. Installing in graphical mode fails in manual partitioning.
On different points the partitioning program crashes when you alter partition options.

Oh please - invalid is not the correct status for this problem!

When a Live-CD exists it should also work when it is booting from an USB-Device.

So why the menu will not come up?

And why the partitioning is not working?
(Besides it is very slow - why the hard disk is analyzed again after editing on parition?)

Please let this bug report as open with a low priority.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. While we appreciate the difficulties you are facing, it would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you download. Could you please visit https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM follow the instructions and report back as to whether or not the MD5SUM verified? Thanks in advance.
