Wireless Disables on startup and does not allow enable

Bug Description

I installed Ubuntu UNE 10.10 on my Netbook thats running a Broadcom Corporation BCM43225 802.11b/g/n wireless card and its giving issue the symptoms are described here. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1555920.

NM grays out all the Enable options and the only way i've found to get it to work is to uninstall the Broadcom Restricted Driver and reinstall it. This works until the next restart then i have to go through the same process

Atheros AR928X with same issue on HP G60-468CA... wireless greyed out by default without any way to enable (physically or via software change/file edition)

running maverick amd64 on linux kernel 2.6.35-22 generic
