Bug Description
Binary package hint: xorg
It's impossible to get to the user interface when radeon.modeset=1, this means kms is still broken with rv740. Unless you know a little about it you will think ubuntu doesn't work, like this since kms is enable by default. So there is the 'xorg' problem which I hope it will be solve one day and the distribution 'ubuntu' problem, is it not possible to fallback to ums when the card is known to not be supported by kms as the rv740 : will improve the end-user experience, I know you care about it.

I 've tried the 2.6.34 kernel and it works with it. So it's a 2.6.35 bug ?
Seems like described in: lkml.org/ lkml/2010/ 7/22/596

but I haven't enough expertise.
