Bug Description
Binary package hint: gvfs
First instance occurred when clicking on the Network folder in the Ubuntu 'Places' menu, resulting in the error message appearing in screenshot-1. However, I don't seem to be able to reproduce the problem.
Later instances occurred as follows (steps to reproduce):
1. Choose the Network bookmark, either from the Places menu or from the left pane in Nautilus.
2. Click on Windows Network. An 'Accessing Windows Network' message appears, with an option to cancel.
3. Click on the Cancel button.
At this point a runaway gvfsd-smb-browse process will occur using 80-90% CPU (this is on an eeePC 1005HA), along with the message appearing in screenshot-2.
In 10.04 I was able to browse the Windows Network with no problems; when both this computer and my girlfriend's laptop (running Vista) were connected to the same wireless router - as is currently the case - I could see her shared files.
