Description of problem:

I have xorg-x11-server-utils installed and when I install bash-completion a lot of symbolic link in /etc/bash_completion.d are created to files in /usr/share/bash-completion/ by trigger scripts in bash-completion. However the xrandr script is not installed (no symbolic link) so it is not available (unless manually creating link).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-server-utils-7.4-13.fc12.x86_64
bash-completion-1.1-6.fc12.noarch

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make sure xorg-x11-server-utils is installed
2. Install bash-completion: yum install bash-completion

Actual results:
The symbolic link /etc/bash_completion.d/xrandr does not exists.

Expected results:
The symbolic link /etc/bash_completion.d/xrandr should exists.

Additional info:
I think the problem is that there are 2 triggerin scriptlet attached to
xorg-x11-server-utils in the bash-completion package. The first one is for xhost, the second one is for xrandr. While xrandr is not installed properly, xhost seems fine.

Therefore there is probably a limit in rpm preventing duplicate triggers from working properly. So the xhost and xrandr should be merged into one triggerin.

This smells like bug 490378 in rpm which I believe was fixed sometime but has apparently broken again, both in F-12 and F-13.

Reproducer specfile

Should output on install:

triggerin 1
triggerin 2

...but outputs only:

triggerin 1

Ditto on erase.

Not exactly the same though, but see bug 490378 comment 3.

There has always been a limit to no.of triggers run. Only the
first trigger (of multiple) is run, no matter whether it "smells"
like a bug (or not).

This message is a reminder that Fedora 13 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 13. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '13'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 13's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 13 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

It was worked around in bash-completion, but the underlying problem (see comment 2 for a reproducer) still persists at least in F-14.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 19 development cycle.
Changing version to '19'.

(As we did not run this process for some time, it could affect also pre-Fedora 19 development
cycle bugs. We are very sorry. It will help us with cleanup during Fedora 19 End Of Life. Thank you.)

What about trigger versioning, i.e. let's say one for foo < 1.0 and another for foo >= 2.0, this will probably prohibit specifying them as if I read the commit correctly it looks for package names only, no?

Not preventing multiple for same package but just running them all would be another approach, see comment 2.

BTW, what's upstream nowadays? The fix seems to be in https://github.com/rpm-software-management/rpm but http://rpm.org/wiki/GetSource still says git is at http://rpm.org/git/

Yes, you read the commit correctly, I modified that behaviour and now it also allowed to have e.g. two file triggers fired by "foo < 1.0" and "foo >= 2.0" in the same spec file: 77146f94b598079a24ab779f71e6c2ebf151cd24
