Bug Description

What happens:
* An error alert appears saying: "Could not initialize the package information" "An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message: 'E:Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/
* Update Manager exits without letting you fix the problem.
What should happen:
* An error alert appears saying something like: "Some software channel settings are incorrect and will be ignored." "Details: Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/
* Update Manager stays open.
The equivalent problem in Ubuntu Software Center is bug 633626, and in Synaptic is bug 633630.
