global sound automatically muted after reboot

Bug Description

after an upgrade to maverick the global sound of the system gets automatically muted and i have to unmute it manually, but when i reboot the system the sound gets unmuted again. i'm using ubuntu maverick 32-bit version

Need info: Are the files /etc/init.d/alsa-mixer-save and /etc/init/alsa-mixer-save.conf present on your system?
