Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

When typing text into a web form, sometimes the typing makes the entire window jump up and down about an inch. The jumps seem to correspond with each keystroke.

It is as if I grabbed the window title bar with the mouse, then moved the mouse rapidly up and down. However, it is driven purely by text entry.

I observed this several times with Ubuntu 10.04. The bug was fairly uncommon, so I haven't had time yet to determine whether it persists in 10.10.

This is on a first-generation early 2006 Core Duo (not Core 2 Duo) MacBook Pro, Model Identifier MacBookPro1,1.

There are so many input bugs in the Ubuntu browsers that I find Ubuntu completely unusable.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Does this happen in any other app with text such as OpenOffice.org?

A few minutes of typing into the OOo word processor didn't reveal any of the problems I've been finding in Firefox.

The jumping up and down bug was fairly rare though. It would take some more work to be certain that it doesn't happen.
