fatal error message during boot

Bug Description

Just updated to the 2.6.35.20 kernel and now I get the "FATAL" error messages during boot:

could not load /lib/modules/2.6.35-20-generic/modules.dep

 even though the file seems to be present. The rest of the boot sequence works fine though.

I still get this even with the newer kernels like 2.6.35-22
