Bug Description

Simple-scan appears to detect my scanner properly (Epson Perfection 640 USB scanner) but when I try to start a scan it pops up an error box saying "Failed to scan, unable to start scan". When running from command line, it prints this error message:

steve@steve-desktop:~$ simple-scan

** (simple-scan:2477): WARNING **: Unable to start device: Invalid argument

PROPOSED WORKAROUNG / SOLUTION:
in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf, comment out "epson2" and un-comment "epson".

Does changing this setting make it work/fail with xsane, too? If this is the case, this is not a problem with Simple Scan but with something further down the chain, probably sane-backends.
