spreadsheet.google.com freezes the whole system

Bug Description

Hi,

Accessing spreadsheet.google.com with firefox 1.5.0.7 causes the whole system to behave extremly sluggish. Typed characters take about 1 second to appear in all applications, redrawing the firefox window takes ages.

However, the CPU load stays at about 10% all the time. Firefox under Win displays the page fine.

Kikolaus,

I am unable to reproduce this behavior in edgy or feisty

Are you still able to reproduce this behavior? Can you reproduce it in Firefox 2.x.

Dave

Yes, I can still reproduce it. But I don't want to test with anything from edgy or feisty, so I only dowloaded the latest versions from dapper proposed updates.

Thanks for your bug report. Could you please install firefox-dbg and try to obtain a backtrace (or crash report) by following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingFirefox This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Which flash package do you have installed?
Which Java package do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions do you have installed?

Thanks
David

Hello,

Since firefox is not crashing, I don't know what to do with the -dbg package. How to I generate a backtrace while firefox is running?

I have deleted all extensions, java and flash packages for testing, the problem still occurs.

Best,
Nikolaus

Please run in debug mode as david had asked and attach the report here. I understand its not crashing but it will tell us exactly what is going on when it displays issue

It seems that with the new version of the Google Spreadsheet site I don't encounter this problem any longer.
