Bug Description

connecting to Folders in Ubuntu 10.04 via Samba and browse in folders, witch are connected via samba, is very slow. Sometimes i get an error "no received reply". Ubuntu 9.10 and Ubuntu 9.04 handle it much faster on the same server.

Could you be more precise on your setup ? My understanding is that for the same server, an Ubuntu 10.04 client is very slow compared to an Ubuntu 9.10/9.04 client. What is the server running ? How do you access the shares ?

Could you provide the information described in:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSamba#samba-client

Hello Mr. Carrez,

I'm sorry that the informations are that small, but this was my first
bug-report.

The server got Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop with the standard Samba-server of the
package. I make Updates regulary. I acces the shares with
nautilus-connect-server with a fix ip given from the provider of the
internet to the server.

As I sayed, Ubuntu 9.04 access much faster than 10.04. I tried it this way:

I have two PC's, one with Ubuntu 10.04, another one with 9.04. I
connected both at the same time with the server. Ubuntu 9.04 got the
files instant, at 10.04 i have to wait at least about 20 sec, sometimes
even though i was in the folder one minute ago (for example
folder->sub-folder->back to folder)

I hope i could help you and thanks for the fast answer...

Greetings julian

Is there any error visible in the server logs for the 10.04 client connection ?

Would you be able to run the same test using Ubuntu 10.10 beta, to see if the bug still persists ? You should be able to use a LiveCD to test.

I don't know, if you had already done something, but it seems, that it
got debugged, because it works great since two or three days.

Thank you very much
