copy to primary selection doesn't work

Bug Description
Binary package hint: fpm
fpm buttons to copy the user/password to the primary selection don't do that, instead nothing is in the primary selection (paste using middle mouse button results in empty string being pasted)
A workaround (even less safe than copy to primary selection) is to edit the entry and click on show password. This can then be selected and pasted using middle mousebutton in another application.
I'm using kubuntu 10.04.1, but this problem has probably been present for earlier versions as well...
