Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

While attempting to upgrade a Lucid system to the Maverick beta, some sort of error occurred during the upgrade process. When I tried to complete the upgrade, I got errors which appear to point to a problem in initramfs-tools. I retried the upgrade by hand (aptitude safe-upgrade), but the errors persist. I'm attaching a full copy of the "aptitude" output, but here is a hopefully salient sample:

I also tried forcibly uninstalling initramfs-tools (using the --force-depends option to dpkg), and then reinstalling it, but this didn't help; the problem persists.

No, it wouldn't - the problem lies in the third-party iscan package (which Ubuntu doesn't ship), and needs to be corrected by upgrading that package from Avasys. See:
