Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-presenter-console

If I run an Impress slideshow with Open Office Presenter Console, and switch to the multiple-slide ("slide-sorter") view, I see the list of slides in the slideshow, as expected. But if I use the arrow keys / etc. to change slide, the slide view stays the same, rather than scrolling down to show the currently selected slide.

This is worse when I'm in the middle of the slideshow. If I need to jump slides, the presenter console multi slide view does not follow along and have the current slide already selected.

For instance, if you're on slide 20, and want to jump several slides forwards to answer a question or something, you go to the multiple-slide view, and it has slide number 1 displayed. It hasn't kept track of the fact that you're on slide 20. So, you have to scroll along until you get to the current slide, and then work from there. When you're live in front of an audience these slight delays are a distraction to the presentation.

I'm using Open Office Impress and openoffice.org-presenter-console from the repositories.

Richard, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please attach the file that this issue occurs in? Does LibreOffice Impress work for you?

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-impress

I've attached a simple 32 slide presentation. To simulate the issue, open Libre Office (with the presenter console add in), start the slide show and forward to slide 20. Now at this point, you get a question that pertains to slide 10, and you need to jump back to that slide, and then when the question is answered, you want to jump back to slide 21. So you click on "Slides" to switch to the multiple slide view within presenter console, and guess what, you're looking at slides 1-4, but the audience has slide 20 on the projector. So you have to scroll down to slide 10, then click that. Wouldn't it be nicer if you switched to multiple slide view and it showed you slides 20,21,22 and 23? Some of our slide shows are up to 90 slides in length and there is a significant delay while one has to scroll about because the multiple slide view is positioned at slide 1.

Perhaps a more meaningful example would be that you're on slide 20 and need to jump ahead and skip some slides that this particular audience doesn't need to see. So if you want to jump to slide 24, but the multi-slide view is still on slide 1.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
