Bug Description

I'm trying latest Maverick beta in my desktop computer, but i can't boot normally from DVD.
System freezes without error message, until i power off.
Only way to start live cd is to set nolapic option in boot kernel, with this my system starts fine.
If i enable verbose mode at boot, the system freezes at this command:

Regenerating SSH certificate.....

with nolapic option this command works fine and fast.
Maybe kernel has problems with my configuration:
CPU Intel i5 660
Motherboard ASUS P7H55 with H55 chipset without graphics card on-board
4 GB RAM DDR3
NVIDIA 9600GT

Hi munny,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 630851

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I cannot reproduce this bug with Maverick Beta from a bootable USB stick and:

Asus P7H55-M motherboard (almost identical to munny's)
Intel Core i3-530
Intel HD graphics (on board)
2GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM

Could be:
* The NVIDIA 9600GT
* A scratched CD
* The BIOS version

Hi, i send apport data, but would remember that my problem is that live CD doesn't start.
Only way to start my system is to set "nolapic" option at boot also with latest live-cd (2010-09-20), so apport information i sent you is from live-cd with nolapic option enabled.

For now i'm sorry but can't test latest upstream kernel, i can't install system and i can test only live-cd.

Additional Information:
Nvidia 9600GT works ok in other configuration with same live-cd, also i try with an old ATI graphics card (X1550/RV505) and i've same problem, so don't think problem is related to NVidia.
All my test was done with latest BIOS from asus website, i try latest 3 bios.
CD is ok, the system load fine and works ok if i set nolapic option in kernel (i'm writing from live-cd now)

For damjan: have you disabled something in your bios settings? I try different configuration (Turbomode, etc....) but all with same results.
