Bug Description

Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 installs just fine, works okay until the first time I reboot...then it goes to a old school command prompt that is very annoying. Is there anyway to give a command line to return to normal windows? I have already installed and uninstalled Ubuntu four times now...and its getting kind of old. Right now I just have my setup set to never shut down and hope it does not crash.

Sorry about the long no hear....Ubuntu has really given me some serious headaches. Finally after ages I got Maverick
Meerkat installed, and trust me that was a trip through hell and back. The past couple of months I have been trying to install Natty along side Maverick and it only took about 23 attempts and about 10 different downloads before the March 8 4gig dvd finally installed...the wrong way. The install partitioner should have shrunk Maverick to 373 gigs (I used my whole disk for Maverick) and 353 gigs for Natty but it installed Natty into the space for Maverick, thus deleting Maverick.....yeah thanx a lot. Well I was just gonna do a re-install of Maverick for the whole disk but then I decided to try Natty and so far not many complaints...Natty is on my whole disk and working pretty darn good so far. My major complaint was about getting desktop icons but I found out that if I switch to the classic desktop I can put any icons/shortcuts I want on the desktop and then just reboot into the desktop edition and presto! Desktop icons! In fact Natty is running smother than Maverick ever did ( and I had Maverick running smooth indeed!). I don't know if the 4 gig dvd install issue is a bug but I think it would tick a lot of folks off. So the issue with 10.04 is moot now.....I'm using amd64 athlon x2 235e nVidia 6150SE nForce 430
