Bug Description
Binary package hint: firebird2.1-classic
Ubuntu 10.0.4 LTS, all updates as of 9/4/10
Basically the installation completely stops at
" * Preparing /var/run/
No matter how long I let it run, it never gets past this point. If I kill the install operation (and reboot to be sure), firebird does seem to be operational, but this is pretty annoying all the same. The results are the same no matter how many other firebird components are already installed. The same issue occurs with firebird2-classic (version 2.0.5 - which is not the latest btw, with the release of 2.0.6)
$ sudo apt-get install firebird2.1-classic

This could be the same as #664366 (in firebird2.5).
Maybe try adding 'db_stop' before the final 'exit 0' in /var/lib/ dpkg/info/ firebird2. 1-classic. config (borrowed from version 2.1.4.18393- 0.ds2-6, currently in Debian/sid)?
