Bug Description

Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper

Ubuntu Maverick 10.10 amd64 beta
flashplugin 10.0 r45
nspluginwrapper 1.2.2-0ubuntu6
chromium-browser: 7.0.515.0~svn20100904r58571-0ubuntu1~ucd1

Since updating the system today, all video playing on websites like youtube or any other site are without sound and much too fast, as if they were in fast forward (2-4x). I have been testing this on chromium and can't test it on firefox right now, as my firefox does not want to start due to another bug, but chromium and firefox are using the same flash plugin, as may be seen through the about:plugins metapage:
Shockwave Flash
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r45
Name: Shockwave Flash
Description: Shockwave Flash 10.0 r45
Version:
Priority: 0
Location: /home/lars/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
[...]

Anyone that has a similar behavior and could confirm it on firefox?

interesting enough, this also affects Miro - maybe an error in the underlying gstreamer-package.

I had the same issue. I was playing some flash-videos in Firefox and when I switched to another, the video suddenly was about 4 times faster and it looked like it was skipping frames. There was no sound, too. While debugging the problem I tried local media files (h264, mp3, ...) and same effect. So I thought it could be gstreamer. gstreamer-properties did not run the audio-test. So I looked up my audio-settings and it turns out that for some reason the output-audio device suddenly changed from my analog-device to HDMI-device from my graphics-card. Switching back to my primary audio-device solved the problem.

I'm experiencing the same problem, as well as within my own gstreamer applications.

I found, that this was caused by a setting of the sound output to my HDMI-output and not having an HDMI-Device present. When rerouting the audio output to the analog out, everything works fine again. Could you check if this also applies to you?

this is caused by a non-existant sound output of pulse (e.g. setting it to HDMI and pulling the HDMI plug).

If I disable Shockwave Flash 11.4 r31 the problem is fixed.
