Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

I have installed a fresh Lucid Lynx. Then I've installed Amarok.

Three problems were noticed:

1 [minor] When starting up, the blue startup picture with a howling dog does not disappear.

What happens: I have to click on it so that it goes away and I can see a dialog which asks me how do I set up Amarok.
What should happen: The startup picture should disappear without user's actions.

I chose "basic" and eventually could see the Amarok's window.

2 [critial] Amarok shows no music tracks in the "Local Music".

What happens: There is no way to play this music using "Local Music" section. Although it is possible to do it through the "Files". Of course, it means the whole point of using Amarok is lost as it does not work with collections any more.

At the same time: There is music in the "Music" directory; Amarok believes it is the only directory where my music collection is; Amarok clearly does something to scan through it (if the number of files is big, it is possible to see the progress of the scan); It works with all kinds of files: mp3, ogg, flac, etc, and even if there is just one file in the collection.

What should happen: Amarok should show music tracks from my collection in the "Local Music".

3 [minor] Finally, when I right-click on the Amarok's icon in the tray and tell it "Quit"...

What happens: The icon disappears along with the Amarok's main window. However, "ps ax" shows that the amarok process is still running.

What should happen: the "amarok" process should also disappear.

Note: I have also tried the same with removed ".kde" directory. It makes no difference.

Note 2: I have attached a test .ogg file. It is just some noise I have recored in "Sound Recorder". Amarok is unable to put it into collection.

Hi Denys!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!
