Bug Description

I changed my socket setting for mysql to /var/lib/mysqld/mysqld.sock, and now automatic updates to mysql do not seem to function. I believe that the socket was set to /usr/bin originally, and I tried to change the location in order to install mysql, but the installation was unsuccessful. Well, I am learning more everyday....

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that you're using a non-standard location for your socket. However mysqld apparmor profile (in /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld) hasn't been updated to allow access to the custom directory.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingApparmor#Debugging%20procedure for more information on how to update mysqld apparmor profile.

Changed in mysql-dfsg-5.1 (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Won't Fix
