Hi Radomir,

Please could you try to collect a backtrace as described at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace

The developers will need to see this information to investigate this further. Many thanks.

Hi Radomir,

inkscape_0.48.0-1ubuntu1 is now available for Ubuntu. Please could you try it, and let us know if you still experience this bug?

Hi Radomir,

Sorry about the slow response. You'll automatically get inkscape_0.48.0-1ubuntu1 if you upgrade your system to the next version of Ubuntu (Maverick Meerkat). The Beta version is now available if you'd like to do that.

Alternatively, you could manually download the new Inkscape package from http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/inkscape (the links are at the bottom of the page.)

I have a similar problem - on 64-bit Ubuntu Inkscape 0.48.0 r9654 - when I start Inkscape, it starts, but then whenever I select Document Properties - it crashes immediately.

Since the first thing I always do is set up the page size and orientation, this means I can do very little with it.

Let me know if you want me to create a separate bug, or leave it with this one.

Hello,

I have the same issue by using Inkscape 0.92.2 from command line.

Segmentation fault message appears just after typing command line.

It concerns Windows deliveries: 32 & 64 bits (0.92.2 build 5c3e80d - 2017-08-06)

However Inkscape is starting correctly by using GUI interface.

Consider this matter with highest priority as it prevent us to switch to this release.

Best Regards,

@Inkescaper: Hi there, do you still have this issue with Inkscape 0.92.4? If so, could you provide a backtrace of the error shown using gdb?

Also try renaming the preferences file and then attempting to start Inkscape again. Thanks!

Bryce Harrington (bryce) wrote :

From the backtrace in comment #5, this is crashing in sp_repr_do_read while reading in the preferences file.

The backtrace appears to be crashing during the garbage collection setup for Inkscape::XML::SimpleDocument, in the call to GC_malloc(256).

I think we'd need to know more specific steps to reproduce this. A copy of a preferences file on a system experiencing this specific crash (i.e. that shows the same gdb backtrace as in #5) would be useful.
