gnome-bluetooth doesn't recognize dongle

Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth
When I plug in my USB bluetooth dongle the led starts blinking, but the bluetooth icon does not appear on the panel.
If I open bluetooth-
Ater searching on the web, I did a chmod 666 /dev/rfcomm: now I instead have a big button saying "Turn on bluetooth", but clicking that will do nothing.
The dongle works, as I tested it on Windows and also on Ubuntu, "hcitool scan" correctly finds my cellphone.
IIRC I had this problem also with Lucid.
My dongles is branded "eXagerate", lsusb says its a "Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)"

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable release - Oneiric Ocelot.
