Bug Description

I recently grabbed the 10.4 Ubuntu Netbook Remix ISO and installed it onto a USB stick (as per the instructions to do so using Windows). UNR is on an 8GB stick with a 4GB casper-rw area. As supplied, the system boots and runs fine.

When I ran the "upgrade" process, I ended up with an unbootable drive. I re-imaged and tried again several times (including on different hardware). The problem appears to be triggered by installation of the package linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic 2.6.32-24.42. The problem package was not installed directly, it was selected automatically as part of an "upgrade" operation on the linux-generic package. The steps necessary to recreate the issue on the hardware I have available are as follows:

1) Create a default installation of UNR 10.4 on an 8GB USB flash device with a 4GB casper-rw area.
2) Boot UNR and start the Synaptic Package Manager
3) Upgrade the package linux-generic

Once step 3 is complete, the system will continue to run until the next reboot... at which time it will hang.
