Bug Description
Binary package hint: vino
I'm not sure after which update it began to happen but as soon as I connect to my machine with any VNC client the screen presents but does not refresh. Events are being transmitted to the desktop but remotely I cannot see any new window or button that is being being presented on the local desktop. I can see that the Mouse is being moved about but any other event is not sent tot he VNC viewer.
I've read several threads about this issue being connected to machines that also have compiz installed (or any varient of compiz). I 've had compiz installed for some time on this machine and have been able to use the remote desktop after compiz had been installed. No setting within the regular remote desktop interface nor the systems configuration editor changes this effect. In previous fixes for this issue Coder had added a function where the desktop effects and event the background would be disabled upon connecting to the remote machine with VNC viewer. I'm wondering if this function had been somehow removed in any last update to vino or is this a function that needs to be re-added.
I'm currently using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx - released in April 2010
I am running 10.10, x64, and am experiencing this issue.
It is a critical show-stopper as far as I am concerned. I cannot use the Remote Desktop feature at all.
Can someone please escalate this bug and do something about resolving it?
