Binary package hint: gpointing-
On Lucid (10.04), I set "Disable touchpad while typing" in System/
I install gpointing-
Now I type some text in a gnome-teminal. After 1 second without keyboard input the touchpad becomes active.
Workaround: Don't set "Disable touchpad while typing" and set "Touchpad off" => The touch pad is off.
